Owner/breeder won’t sell ‘special filly’, eyes up maiden Group 1
Peter Walsh, the owner of Amelia Park Racing, claims he has no interest in selling unbeaten filly Amelia’s Jewel and is hoping the rising star of the turf can hand him his Group 1 victory. Longtime owner/breeder Peter Walsh is adamant Amelia’s Jewel (Siyouni {Fr}) is the best horse he has had anything to do with. The Simon Miller-trained 3-year-old kept her perfect record intact on Saturday, scoring a gutsy first-up win in the Listed Belgrave S. at Ascot.
Amelia's Jewel Pulls It Out of the Fire
The three-year-old Siyouni filly Amelia's Jewel extended her unbeaten sequence to four with a gutsy win at her seasonal debut in Saturday's Listed Drummond Golf-Belgravia Stakes (1200m) at Ascot. Amelia Park's Peter Walsh purchased Bumbasina (IRE) for 76,000 guineas at the 2019 Tattersalls July Sale through Astute Bloodstock. He sent her to Siyouni to southern hemisphere time, and Amelia's Jewel is the result.

The sensational 7l win of Star Patrol (Starspangledbanner) at Flemington on Monday has trainer Clint McDonald aiming up at stakes grade with the 3-year-old, with plenty of upside predicted after he relished his first shot down the famous Flemington straight. McDonald admits Star Patrol has surprised everyone with his progress, 'jumping out of the ground' in just two starts for the stable since transferring from Mark Newnham, having begun his career with Kacy Fogden in Queensland.

A star is born in WA

Brooklyn Hustle 4 years or consistency at stakes level
Back in 2011, I was privileged to help the Rosemont Stud team to secure a handful of value mares in Europe. At the Arqana December breeding sales Anthony Mithen and I were wowed by a magnificent Pivotal mare called Joint Aspiration. She was a stakes performer in the US and built like an Aussie sprinter and was in foal to Fastnet Rock at the time.

Pilote d'Essai resumes in style
European horses can take a while to adapt to the Australian pattern of racing, however, under the smart guidance of the Lindsay Park team, our first import Pilote d'Essai started his Australian racing career with a bang. After winning on debut last march in devastating fashion over 1400m, the horse was gelded and given a spell with the view of building his fitness for the good middle distance races of the Melbourne spring. Despite a wide draw and being 80% fit, Pilote d'Essai ran a brillant race yesterday at Flemington over 1400m. Indeed, the gelding was caught 4 wide during most of the trip but he ran the fastest sectionals while closing on the eventual winner who had race fitness on his side. After the race, his jockey Dayne Dunn was praising his mount saying: "serious horse, nothing went right for him and he should win a nice race over the 1600m to 2000m in the near futur". We identified Pilote d'Essai as an ideal import last summer and we bought him at the 2015 Tattersalls Octobre Sales for 230 000 Guineas for in partnership jointly formed with Mark Pilkington Bloodstock. Good luck to the owners Peter Devitt, Darren Thomas, Craig Gordon, Russell Gordon, Peter Katelanis and Tom Payne.
